I've never thought that I would be able to buy Soap & Glory products, that too when I am in India. But at last, after a long wait our well loved 'Sephora' is here. I am super excited to get my hands on those beautiful products finally, though I have to be extra careful not to go bankrupt 😅.

Anyway, for a moment let’s forget about bank balance, and let's get our focus on a beautiful body exfoliator.

My Experience:

First of all guys, I am absolutely head over heels with Soap & Glory products. Now that 'Sephora' is here, I am trying their products one by one. Thankfully, the products are available here in travel sizes. I have bought this particular tub in mini size as I want to try their other variations too.

As per the description on their website, this particular body buff or exfoliator whatever you want to call it, is scented with their ‘Mist You Madly’ fragrance. Sadly, I haven't used it before so I cannot tell you anything about it.

But one thing is clear that this body exfoliator smells a...mazing. I am a fan of flowery-fruity smells. This product smells like an heavenly magical garden. The smell is not at all heavy. It is lightly yet beautifully scented with a perfect balance. Your bathroom will smell like a garden. If you want to treat yourself with a skin pampering session, you need this product in your life. It comes in light pink color with a semi-liquidy salt like texture and bright pink-colored granules. The granules in the scrub are really gentle on the skin.

At first, I clean my body with plain water and then, gently massage my skin with this. It is not abrasive at all, and even suitable for my sensitive skin. My skin feels like a new born baby after using it. The oils work perfectly and make the skin soft, moisturized, and beautiful. I moisturize my body after that. But sometimes, when I’m lazy, I do leave my skin as it is. The scrub itself moisturizes so amazingly that you don't need extra hydration most of the times.

Pros:

· Smells heavenly

· Gentle on the skin ( perfect for sensitive skin)

· Removes dead cells gently but effectively

· Makes skin soft and nourished

· Skin remains soft and plump for the next 3 to 4 days.

Cons:

· Expensive

· Not easily available ('Sephora' too is not available all over India as of now)

· The quantity is very less for the price

This travel size Soap & Glory Scrub lasts for a whole month. I use it once a week: and it works like a magic. So, whenever you get a peak, grab it. You’ll definitely fall in love with it.

Summer is here. You all must be rocking it with the season. But I know, this time can be pretty sweaty, greasy. The dirt and the heat sit on our faces. We literally feel like a grease ball.
So, today let's talk about a product that can be effective in repairing your skin and get your glow back in this summer.
A few years back, who would have ever thought that Charcoal will be this famous as a Skin Care Essential. At least I didn't. But look at all the commercials on TV. Charcoal has become everyone’s most trusted and favorite friend.

I was in search of a good charcoal based face pack for a long time. And finally, after an extensive research, I have found one and to be frank, I’m quite happy with it.

This brand has a unique way of introducing each and every product on the back of the pack. That is quite fascinating I would say. They claim,

Ingredients:

Contains Bamboo Charcoal Powder, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Emusifying Wax, Juniper Berry essential oil, Aloe Barbadensis, Illite, Simmondsia Seed oils, Salix Nigra bark Extract, Pterocarpus Santalinus Wood extract, Citrus medica Limonum, Boswellia Carteri oil, aqua.

How to use:

Wash your face. Pat dry. Apply a thin layer of the pack to your face and let it dry for 15 minutes. Rinse off. You may follow up with moisturizer. Use once a week for best results.

My experience:

I am truly amazed by Charcoal’s benefits. During my research, I have found out that it has been beneficial since ancient Egyptian times. And even the great Greek physician Hippocrates too recommended this for medicinal purposes. Activated charcoal helps to fight acne, and this can also take out dirt, bacteria, toxins, and other pollutants from the skin. It also helps to treat poisonous bites, wounds, inflammation etc. Along with this, it absorbs gas and its bacteria too.

Now as of my personal experience is concerned, this particular brand Aroma Magic has drawn my attention because of its awesome natural ingredients. Along with other products, this particular product too is free from harmful chemicals, preservatives etc. What this face pack does is nicely written on the back of the pack. It brightens, tightens, exfoliates, and makes a protected antibacterial shield around the skin.

This pack acts in multipurpose ways. It comes in a grayish black color. There is a smell but it is just like the essential oils. After cleansing my face, I apply this face pack thoroughly on my face and neck. I leave this for 30 minutes, and then wash it out. It gives an instant glow and makes my skin radiant as never before. It also makes it soft, gives a lustrous effect. The ‘deep cleansing’ after effect is really visible.

In fact, while washing the face pack, I gently rub my face in a circular motion. It also scrubs the dead cells out very nicely.

My husband also likes to apply this product. It really works amazingly on the rough & tough skin of Men.

But one downside of this product that I've noticed is that the glow doesn't stay for long. But immediate after-effect is really kissable.

15 MUST DO'S FOR A COMPLETE SKIN CARE

Over the period of time, I've learned quite a few do's and don'ts that could be really life changing. So, I am sharing with you my version of some ideas that I find really important to remember when you are taking care of your skin. I just want to give a disclaimer that I am not a professional expert. These are completely my thoughts and these work for me. This could vary from person to person.

Skin care is not only for women but men too should take good care of their skin. If not anything, at least daily cleansing, a good moisturizing, and scrubbing are necessary.
In the following, I am sharing some points which help taking care of your skin if you maintain them well.

These are not all, but let's see some of the thoughts -

Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing, and Scrubbing. These are the basic keys for everything. Basically, you need to wash your face daily twice (morning and evening) to get rid of all the gunk that your skin accumulates throughout the day. Then comes Toning which helps to maintain the ph balance of the face and tightens the open pores that open after washing and scrubbing. Scrubbing is very important for face as well as for body. Go for exfoliation at least once a week to get rid of all the dead cells. Let the new cells come out with a natural glow. You must not skip your Toner after it. And finally comes moisturizing which is absolutely mandatory to maintain the hydration in the skin. These are your “skin foods”. Finish the whole ritual with a nice pampering face pack/ mask at least once a week to rejuvenate your skin.

Go for an alcohol free toner. Alcohol always irritates the skin and dries out the outer layer of the skin. Try to avoid it. Nowadays, there are many variants of Alcohol free toners available. Choose according to your own taste or simply make a DIY Aloe Vera Toner by using Aloe Vera Pulp, water, and Vitamin E Oil. Preserve it in the fridge and use it within 7 days.

Always moisturize your face in the Upwards motion. Moisturizing is a must. But don't just rub your face bluntly. Your skin is gentle. So, massage it gently in wide circular strokes. Start from your neck area and slowly move to the upwards direction. Always avoid downwards motion because it may cause sagging of your skin. Massaging your skin helps to maintain the elasticity. Skin will appear more youthful, healthy, and less wrinkly.

Invest in a good Moisturizer that suits your Skin-types. Moisturizer always varies according to your skin. There is always a chance of getting adverse effects like developing Pimples, Rashes, or Patches etc. if you are using a wrong product. Meaning, if the product is not for your particular skin types, it can make things worse. In general, Oily to Normal skin people should use a light moisturizer during the Summers, a little heavier version for the Winters. Normal to Dry skin people should use some heavy moisturizer. The main fact is, you must not skip your moisturizer at any cost.

It is a Myth that Oily Skin should not use Moisturizer. Whether your skin is oily, or normal, or dry, moisturizing is really important. All types of skin tend to lose its natural hydration over the time. Moisturizer really helps to maintain the balance of hydration, and makes the outer layer of the skin more soft, healthy and plump. If your skin is very Oily, use a water based light moisturizer, Aloe Vera Gel etc.

Go natural. Chemicals are not at all good for our skin. And very few people are aware of it. I’ll talk about it in details some other day. But right now, all I can suggest is that always try to use products that are free from Preservatives ( parabens, sulfates etc.) , Alcohol (natural derivatives are fine), fragrance (natural fragrance is fine). Look for Non-Comedogenic products and dermatologically tested cosmetics. Natural products are always your friends.

Start using Anti-aging products in your late 20’s. You don’t need to think you’re getting old if you are using Anti aging Skin Care. Good products have all the beneficial properties that help to maintain the skin elasticity, produce more collagen, more hydration, etc. Wrinkles will come gradually, but these stuff will help to reduce the visible signs of aging or rather make them appear late. Skin will look youthful and stay hydrated all the time.

Facial oils are excellent. Oily people... please don’t get scared. You need to be extra careful while choosing a Facial Oil, but nowadays there are so many products available in the market for different skin types. Normal to dry skin people go ahead, test the oil, and start using it. These oils have many benefits to make your skin invigorated and give a youthful glow. They also add a protective layer in front of your skin to keep it safe.

Body butters and Lotions are must haves. They are your friends. According to your skin types, invest in a good product that suits you. In general, oily skin prefers body lotions, and normal to dry skin prefers body butters. But this can vary according to seasons.

Body Massage Oil is necessary. Do massage your body with your favorite kind of oil at least once a week. Skin will glow as never before. Body lotions & butters are absolutely fine. But along with them, massaging your skin with different oils add so many additional benefits. It also helps in blood circulation and thus the best of your skin comes out.

Choose your Eye Cream wisely. Eye creams are always helpful but look for the ingredients list given for the product. See there is any special ingredient present and whether that will be beneficial to you or not. Some eye creams have the exact same ingredients that are present in your face creams. Our eye area is extra gentle and sensitive and it tends to get wrinkles faster than other areas, so choose carefully. Some creams could be very thick or thin according to your skin type. As these are twice or thrice the price of your regular face cream, selecting it could be tricky. Eye creams also help to reduce those dark circles and puffiness. But it is almost impossible to get rid of your genetic dark circles no matter how expensive your Eye Cream is.

Body lotions are for Body only. Believe it or no, there are still people who use literally the same thing for their face and body. Do not ever put body lotions on your face. First of all, facial skin is way more delicate than body. So the facial skin cells get damaged faster than body. Body lotions are way more thick than face creams, so they can clog pores and that can lead to Acne and Pimples. Body lotions also contain more quantity of chemicals so that could be a bummer for your face.

Sunscreen is a must. Always apply Sunscreen before stepping outside. It doesn’t matter whether the day is sunny or cloudy, UV rays are always there and that is always harmful for our skin. You will need at least SPF-30 to protect your Skin.

Healthy diet comes handy for a fit life. It’s hard but try to avoid junk food as much as you can. Avoid Caffeinated drinks. Include lots of green vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, and obviously animal fats (if you are a non-vegetarian) in your diet. And drink plenty of water, at least 8 to 10 glasses per day.

Sleep and Stress Management. Now this is the final key for a healthy lifestyle. No matter how much busy you are, a good 8 hours sleep is always necessary. You need to get to flush out all the stress that makes life difficult. Go for a walk (at least 20 to 30 minutes every day) or a run. Try some Yoga, and if possible then meditate. You’ll get a renewed, blissful body and mind every day.

Life is always Good when you have an Extra Tip.

After everything, it is very much possible to get pimples due to some internal problems or hormonal changes. Trust me, I know it’s very much tempting to pluck it every time you get it, but tell your hands to be in control. Plucking will make it more miserable and clog the pores. That will lead to extra breakouts.

Finally, everything will fall into place if you are happy from inside. A happy body & mind is everything we need for a healthy life.

I truly believe in this. When I started suffering from Eczema sometimes back, my skin became extra-sentivite. I couldn't touch any Skin Care products that have fragrance, chemicals, or preservatives in them. I frantically searched for some miracle. And Weleda came to my life. It was hard for me to get them here, but somehow I could manage it.

My Experience:

I cannot stop raving about Weleda products. You may know that I am a crazy seeker for natural products. And when my Eczema happened, I was desperate. My search took me to this brand which is a Natural Skin Care Brand. My skin issues were in a worse condition and I decided to give it a try. I got blown away by their mind blowing results.

Both of these two products are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and 100% natural. Isn't that awesome!!

The facial lotion calms sensitive skin, protects it, and restores the balance. Organic sweet almond oil gently soothes the skin. The plum kernel oil is full of antioxidants, vitamins A, and E. This lotion is absolutely non-greasy. It absorbs quickly into the skin.

I use this during day time and sometimes in the night time too after cleansing my face with the cleansing lotion from the same range.

This is suitable for all seasons and all skin types. I have an oily, sensitive skin and it fits me perfectly. However they have facial cream and facial oil too in this range which will be more effective for dry skin.

About the Cleansing Lotion, it gently removes all the impurities without irritating the skin. The essential fatty acids in Sweet Almond Oil and the Vitamins & Antioxidants packed Plum Kernel Oil help nourishing the skin. They maintain the balance and save the skin from different pollutants. Though this is a creamy cleansing lotion and many say that is not suitable for oily skin, this particular one is an exception. I take a cotton pad and put two peas sized amount and apply it on the skin. Then, I gently massage it for 30 seconds and wash it off with water.

Both of these products complete each other. They go very well together. They don’t break me out and give my skin a healthier glow.

Another striking fact about these products is that they are absolutely safe to use during pregnancy as they are free from every single harsh chemicals and preservatives. They soothe the skin and make them soft, supple, nourished, and glorious.

Today, I am sharing my experience on Matrix Biolage Deep Smoothing Serum, which I've have been using for quite some time.

My Experience:

I have an on-off relationship with this particular product. Someday I like this very much and someday I don’t. Now, if you are wondering about the kind of hair I have, then you must know that I have extremely oily, fine hair with a sensitive scalp. Yeah... I know it’s the worst one imaginable. If I shampoo my hair in the morning, by the evening it gets flat and greasy. So, I was a little bit reluctant when I thought of using this in the beginning. But during the last monsoon, when my hair struggled to air-dry properly, I decided to use the hair dryer (I don't prefer to use Hair Dryer regularly). As a precautionary heat protectant, I started using this serum. And it started working very nicely.

After shampooing my hair; I take just a small pea sized amount of this serum in my palm, rub it, and use it in the ends of my hair. Afterwards, whatever remains, I spread that in the rest of my hair. I use my Tangle Teezer (see my review) to comb and I find no knots in my hair which is quite surprising for me. After that, I use my dryer.

During the Summer, it gets greasy after some time but for the rest of the year, it works nicely especially during the Winters.

The texture of the serum feels like an extra light version of an oil. It gives my hair a natural shine. It controls the frizz and the flyaway hair too. And the soothing smell lingers into the hair for some time which feels very refreshing. When I use this and the hair dryer together, my hair feels so soft. But when I use this serum on my hair, I skip Conditioner on that day. However, oily hair people have to be really careful while using this because if you use a little extra, your hair may turn greasy.

Pros:

· Good to use as a heat protectant

· Gives a natural shiny, glossy finish

· Smoothens the hair nicely

· Non expensive

· There are infusions of some good oils

· A single bottle goes for a looong time

· Could be little greasy for some people with oily hair ( I use very carefully)

Recently, I find myself obsessed with different types of fragrances. Be it a perfume, or scented candles for home, or even frankincense sticks for daily Puja (act of worshiping God), I am all about how they smell. I am always fascinated by fragrances and in pursuit of finding new things. It always changes according to my mood or season. I believe a nice scent can really uplift your mood. It does for me. It can calm you down. It can turn on your mood.

When it comes to Skin Care and Cosmetic products , I, however, prefer to use fragrance free skincare. But a little devil inside me always tend to go for some floral fragrances in bath and body products especially during the Summers. A nice scent really relaxes me. It can give the effect of a little spa-at-home kinda feeling.

Today, I am gonna talk about this beautiful bath soap which literally gives my bathroom a spa feeling.

My experience:

First of all, since I've put this soap in my bathroom, every time I go there, I get the Zen feeling. This soap actually smells like real Sandalwood with a little touch of Turmeric. The fragrance is absolutely natural and beautiful.

It comes in a rectangular shaped bar with a brownish yellow color. One thing I must say is that I've used so many different types of handmade soaps in the past. But sadly, most of them gave a dry feeling after wash. This hand made soap is an exception to that. It gives a very clean, refreshing feeling. It is so moisturizing as well. The smell is not over powering. It lingers into the skin for quite some time which feels really nice. I've tested this soap without applying any moisturizer immediately after bath. Even then, it doesn't make the skin dry which is amazing. This soap is just beautiful with all its natural properties like coconut oil, almond oil, sandalwood oil, etc. They are all well known for their multiple benefits in Skin Care. This brand has other variants of Soaps too to offer which I am yet to try.
